INITIATIVES

Sistema Impresa e Cultura

In 2002, in the wake of our experience with Intrapresae Collezione Guggenheim and the Impresa e Cultura Guggenheim Award, BC created Sistema Impresa e Cultura: a non-profit centre for integrated communication, meetings, and research.
Sistema Impresa e Cultura seeks to strengthen cooperation and build partnerships between cultural and business communities in Italy.  This is accomplished by enhancing the visibility of companies active in the cultural field (the award), creating opportunities for dialogue between economic and cultural players (the forum), and providing businesses with the tools they need to leverage culture for competitive advantage (the observatory).

By 2007 the number of companies involved with Sistema’s programs reached 1000.  The 2007 proceedings were held in Venice, having previously been hosted in Florence, Naples, Palermo and Milan, partners and sponsors include:
Confindustria, ICE – the Italian Foreign Trade Board, the Veneto Region, Banca Intesa, De Agostini Rizzoli Periodici, Enel, Gioco del Lotto - Lottomatica, Hay Group, Il Giornale dell’Arte, Il Sole 24 ORE, Microsoft Italia, RCS Periodici, and Touring Club Italiano, Prime Minister’s Office, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport and the Ministry of Culture.

Since 2004, two special prize categories have been added to the Awards competition in order to further encourage cultural institutions to initiate and maintain a profitable dialogue with the country’s business community. The first is supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and recognizes the Italian cultural institution abroad that has done the best to foster healthy interactions with businesses.  The second, sponsored by The Arts Newspaper, rewards the Italian institution, be it a museum, theatre, library, or foundation, that has best involved business in its programs.

As in the past, the latest Premio Impresa e Cultura has received special recognition from the government, this time by former President of the Republic Carlo Azeglio Ciampi.  Ciampi expressed his appreciation for Sistema Impresa e Cultura’s efforts by receiving Michela Bondardo, president of Sistema, along with the Award winners from previous years, at the Quirinale Palace.
